![]() Each panel contains 8 rows of pixels and all connectors for control or power injection come off the right side side of the panel.Įvery pixel is held in place by 2 staples across the wires, one on each side of the pixel body. The overall pixel grid is 38 pixels wide by 16 pixels high and the pixels are spaced at 2.5 inches on center in both horizontal and vertical directions. This stuff is strong, thin, and very lightweight and serves as a good backer material for attaching the pixels. In keeping with the lightweight and thin requirements, we picked up some relatively inexpensive corrugated plastic sheeting from Home Depot. See LED Pixels for more details on all of the LEDs used in our show. Unfortunately, ~2 inches was the shortest length that could be manufactured and so we made it work. We ended up with 1 7/8 inch long wires (pixels 3 3/8 inches apart on center), but would have preferred 1 inch long wires instead as it would have made mounting the pixels much, much easier. We ordered 12V ws2811 technicolor pixels and had them built with a smaller-than-standard wire length since they would be mounted close together. However, there was still enough room for the square bodies of the technicolor pixels that we use all over the house façade and roof and we know that these pixels are much more robust and reliable than the pixel strips we tried for the seven-segment displays. ![]() The Pixelsĭue to the low clearance between the garage door and the upper door jamb, we knew that our solution had to be pretty thin. You can also see a hint of the orange strapping holding the light panels onto the garage door panels. After the season, we will staple that pixel down like all the others. You can see one pixel in the fourth row of the top panel near the right side that we had to replace and it is just held on with white electrical tape temporarily. The LED pixel screen in the daytime with the wiring harness on the right side. The resolution isn’t TV-like, but we can certainly render numbers, letters, and many images. A close up of the pixel screen showing some ships sailing across. This new screen is a major improvement over the seven-segment displays we used on the garage door previously. The LED pixel screen (new in 2020) showing a Christmas message. ![]() The pixel screen consists of 608 pixels in a 38 x 16 grid that spans roughly 8 feet wide by 3.5 feet tall. The pixel screen is a significant improvement in both functionality and (we believe) in durability over our original attempts at garage door illumination. We created the pixel screen in 2020 to replace the Garage Door Seven-Segment Display we originally built in 2017. ![]()

![]() ![]() Which watch has the brightest Lume? – Best Lume watchesīelow, we’ll have a look at some of the watches on the market that have the best lume. If you have a collection of several watches, there may be a great emphasis on legibility for some of them, but for other watches, you may pay more attention to other aspects. With that said, different watches have different needs and purposes. At the same time, if you’re going to a formal lunch or dinner and wear a dress watch, the lime may not be as important. In the darkness of the water, lume is crucial to be able to read the time at all in many cases. But in other cases, it may not be important at all.įor example, if you are going diving, the lume is extremely important. In some cases, a good lume on a watch may be extremely important. The answer to that question is that it depends on your needs. This is of course not possible with tritium lume watches since this lume isn’t charged by light.Īnother, but more complicated method is to apply more luminescence and perhaps a stronger luminescence, but this requires either some skills or to get help bu an experienced watchmaker. This charges the luminescence and allows it to glow as strongly as possible. But apart from that, the easiest way to make your lume glow brighter and stronger is to use a UV torch on it. The best solution is to buy a watch with a strong lume. It needs to glow brightly and it needs to glow for a long time. There are generally two factors that are most important to achieve a good lume. How and where the luminescence is applied. What type of luminescence material is used. How much luminescence material is applied. The purpose of luminescence is to improve legibility, but there are several factors that affect the legibility of a watch and how strong it can glow. Usually, it is only the markers and the hands of the watches that are luminescent. Obviously, the whole watch on a luminous watch doesn’t glow. Lume watches, luminous watches, glow in the dark watches are just some of the many names used to describe a watch that is luminous, glows in the dark. ”Lume” in watches has many different names. Whilst this does affect the legibility in low-lit conditions negatively, it does allow for a cleaner look. Since dress watches aren’t really built to be functional and to achieve a cleaner appearance, the lume is sometimes omitted. The most common example of this is dress watches. However, with that said, there are also many watches that do not have lume. ![]() Most watches have luminescence on the hands and on the markers, but some may only have luminescence on the hands. Most watches today use lume in one way or another due to the benefit it offers. But for safety reasons and practicality reasons, tritium has become less common in more recent times, although it is still used by some brands. With that said, the most reliable lume on a watch will be tritium since it doesn’t have to be charged and lasts for a long time. When fully charged, most watches tend to glow the brightest for 4 to 12 hours before the luminescent glow loses some of its brightness, although not all of it. Instead, the luminescence glows from being charged by light. Most watches today, on the other hand, do not use radioactive lume. Tritium has a half-life of 25 years, and so will glow for a very long time before it finally becomes so weak that it is hard to see it. Namely, it depends on which type of luminescent material is used and how much is applied.įor example, tritium, which was more common back in the days, is a radioactive substance that glows constantly due to it being radioactive. The answer to that question is that it depends. In this article, we will look closer at the best lume watches, meaning watches that have the strongest and brightest luminescence. Most watches just have a bit of luminescence on the hands and perhaps also on the markers but some lume glows much stronger and longer than other watches. Now, more watches than not have luminescence in one way or another due to the legibility benefits it offers. Luminescence in watches came about for watches during the first world war as soldiers needed to be able to keep track of the time even in low-lit conditions. Lume is a natural part of many watches today, but not all lame is created equal. ![]() ![]() ![]() Now, one of the things we at Everything Recording wanted to see in the system is finally released… kind of. ![]() Nx now supports EQ curves to balance out certain brands of headphones. ![]() KNOXVILLE, TN, JWaves Audio, a leading provider of digital signal processing solutions and digital music production tools, announces an update to the Waves Nx Virtual Mix Room plugin – a new headphone EQ calibration feature. This 23.98fps can either be left alone and played on HD monitors or computer monitors, or pulled down to 29.97fps, and played on any monitor – the pulldown only changes the frame count, not the speed. 1% to simulate the effect of changing reference from 60hz to 59.94hz, to arrive at 23.98. If the camera shoots a true 24fps just like film, it must be slowed by. Now, if an HD video camera wants the “film look”, they shoot 24P (which, unless it’s the Varicam or the like) is 23.98, and no speed adjustment is necessary before pulldown. ![]() But, this allows Film to be displayed on a standard NTSC monitor. There are duplicate fields when this happens. Thereby fitting 23.98 progressive film frames on 29.97 interlaced video frames. 1% slowdown due to reference change, Film is generally pulled down via the 2:3:2 method which maps the first film frame to 2 fields of video, the next frame of film to 3 fields of video, and so on. HD video is often done this way as HD monitors can display 23.98fps, though I read film is usually edited in 29.97fps. Now, 23.976fps (aka 23.98fps) can be edited on a 23.98fps timeline with 23.98 timecode in Final Cut Pro, and edited in Pro Tools with a 23.98 session Time Code rate. 1% slowdown comes from, NOT from a 2:3:2 pulldown. This change in reference of time (60Hz verses 59.94Hz) is where the. X = 23.976 (This is where the 23.98 number comes from) To allow film to be played at this rate, first it must be referenced to video time instead of film time (NONE of my books described it in this way) Now, most video monitors will only display 29.97fps. So, the new reference for NTSC is 59.94 HZ – This is the length of one second for NTSC, as well as the amount of fields per second. NTSC color video was changed to 29.97fps, so there must be a new reference.ģ0fps / 60hz = 29.97fps / X (solve for X) Since it’s interlaced, each frame is composed of 2 fields, for a total of 60 fields. ![]() Originally, black and white video was 30fps, referenced to 60Hz. Now I believe I do, it's all about the time reference! So, here's my entire explanation, compiled from various books and my own figurin':įilm speed is 60Hz – That is the length of one second for Film.įilm is shot at 24fps referenced to 60Hz. I've read all the posts here, and the chapters dealing with timecode over and over and could not get it. And if they do, I have yet to comprehend it. NONE have completely described why 23.98 lines up with 29.97, and the methodology behind it. Let me start this by saying I have Pro Tools for video, film, and multimedia / Dialog Editing for Motion Pictures / Sound for Digital Video, and many other books. ![]() |
